Glen “Pete” Betenbender, 87, of Coggon, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at his home.
Burial: Jordan’s Grove Cemetery, Central City, Iowa.
Survivors include two sons, Max (Donna) Betenbender of Coggon, and Larry (Ana) Betenbender of Iowa City; 1 granddaughter, Teresa Betenbender; 2 great-grandchildren, Courtney Blaber and Cameron Klouda; and 1 brother, Dale (Lillian) Betenbender.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; his parents; a brother, Merle, a sister, Viola Henderson and a grandson, Ted Betenbender.
Pete was born March 7, 1922, the son of Earl and Martha (Nielson) Betenbender, in rural Linn County, Iowa. He married Blanche Bliss on February 10, 1945 in Coggon. He was founder of Betenbender Manufacturing.

Blanche J. Betenbender, 83, of Coggon, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Jordan’s Grove Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Pete; her children, Max (Donna) Betenbender of Coggon, and Larry (Ana) Betenbender of Iowa City; 1 granddaughter Teresa Betenbender; 2 great-grandchildren, Courtney Blaber and Cameron Klouda; 1 brother, Donald Bliss of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Ted Betenbender; 4 brothers, Albert, Harold, Jack, and Merle Bliss; and 1 sister, Alice Turner.
Blanche was born January 2, 1926, the daughter of Chester and Julia (Danford) Bliss, in Prairieburg, Iowa. Blanche married Glen “Pete” Betenbender on February 10, 1945 in Coggon, Iowa.

Max Betenbender, 73, of Coggon, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, September 20, 2019, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa. Burial is at Coggon Cemetery.
Max was born May 31, 1946, in Manchester, Iowa, to Glen “Pete” and Blanche (Bliss) Betenbender. He graduated from Coggon High School. Max served honorably in United States Army during the Vietnam War, from 1965 to 1967. He was united in marriage to Donna Johnson on November 7, 1970, in Independence, Iowa, at Hope Wesleyan Church. Max was the president of Betenbender Manufacturing. He was a member of the Coggon American Legion Post #362 and the Antique Car Club. Max collected army vehicles, including two army tanks. He loved traveling. Max was a friend to all, always willing to help. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Max is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Donna Betenbender; daughter, Teresa Betenbender (Steve Cook); two grandchildren, Courtney (David) Blaber and Cameron Klouda; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Gabriella and Stephen Blaber; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ted Betenbender; brother, Larry Betenbender;
and Baby Blaber.
